Negligence of Sericulture Deptt suffocates mulberry man 3/10/2015 11:17:01 PM Avinash Azad Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 10: In a tragic incident a mulberry man in sericulture department died of suffocation, while working on incubation centre at Ramnagar on Monday. Source in the department informed Early Times that a mulberry man, Ratan Lal who was few days ago forcibly transferred at Dehari village in Ramnagar by Deputy Director, Sericulture Department Udhampur to run incubation centre died of gases produce by burning of incubation. Incubator is a machine used to maintain at a favorable temperature and in other conditions promoting development of silkworms by the sericulture department. This process deals with young age rearing of tiny silkworm, keeping the eggs in the pre disinfected room and rearing them upto second moult in larval period and then supply to farmers for further care to prude quality cocoon. They further said that there is a special training to operate the incubation centre and department has trained staff also. "Department gives special training under a programme Junior Sericulture Course (JSC) to its men to run an incubation centre safely", sources said, adding that unfortunately most of the centre in Udhampur district are being run by unskilled person, especially fourth call employees, who don't know anything about incubation technically. "There are 105 sanctioned incubation centres in Udhampur District, and about 70-80 centres are running, but most of the centres are being manned unskilled employees", sources said, adding that intentionally the higher authorities of the department have put life of fourth class employees on risk. When contacted Deputy Director Sericulture Udhmapur Ashwani Sharma admitted that mulberry man died of suffocation. "He (deceased Ratan Lal) was not aware about gases produce in the incubator, might be he closed the door and died of suffocation", the Deputy Director said.
