People protest for non-payment of dues under MGNREGA M S Nazki 3/10/2015 11:31:52 PM Early Times Report MENDHAR, Mar 10 : People of three blocks protested here today for non-payment of their dues under MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act).Raising anti-government slogans, they alleged that they had not got their dues for the past about two years. The trouble started after some people, including sarpanches and panchs of Mankote, Balakote and Mendhar blocks gathered at dak bungalow where BDO Mohammad Rafiq Choudhary was chairing a meeting of his staff.They wanted to speak to the BDO who ignored them and left for his office which is about 200 mt from the dak bungalow. The angered panchayat members later held a demonstration, demanding the intervention of RDD minister. Alleging that some officials in the BDO office were demanding 16 pc commission from them to release their payments, they urged the RDD minister to hold a probe into the conduct of the officials.
