Akhnoor zone boys bag volleyball titles

JAMMU, May 7 : Akhnoor zone boys dominated the volleyball event taking home both under-14 and under-17 titles in the inter-zonal sports meet of Jammu district, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Government Higher Secondary School, Domana, here today.
Earlier, in the under-14 final, Akhnoor zone defeated Marh zone in straight sets of 25-20, 25-09. Dheeraj and Tarun played well for the winners. Similarly, in under-17 group, Akhnoor zone trounced Arnia zone 3-1. Gourav and Divyansh dominated the courts from Akhnoor zone.
Akhnoor zone also won the kabaddi under-14 trophy beating Gandhi Nagar zone 41-28. Parwinder and Kamal played well. The under-17 kabaddi title went to Miran Sahib zone after they defeated RS Pura zone 30-28 in a close contest.
In kho-kho under-14 final, Satwari zone defeated Bhalwal zone by one turn and one point. Harish, Sumit and Arshdeep Singh emerged best scorers.
The kho-kho under-17 trophy bagged by Bhalwal zone beating Akhnoor zone 5-2 in the final.
WRESTLING: Under-14: 45 kg: Mohd Arshad, GHS Gajansoo, March zone, Ist and Vishavjeet Singh, MHAC Nagbani, Bhalwal Zone, 2nd. 55 kg: Raj Kumar, MRCD Burj Mandir, Marh, Ist and Ranbir Singh, GMS Amb, Bhalwal zone, 2nd. 60 kg: Vijinder Sharma, MHAC Nagbani, Bhalwal, Ist.
Meanwhile, the inter-zonal district level competitions in kho-kho, kabaddi and volleyball in girls section shall start tomorrow at the same venue.
