5/8/2015 12:12:38 AM
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 7: The alarming threat given by the Women Cell Incharge Arti Thakur to a woman victim who reached her for justice against her husband's barbarity has taken the entire media by storm.
The female cop who, as per the recorded statement given by the victim Suman Kumari of Palli, Bari Brahmana , not attending to the victim's pleas, instead remained occupied with her 'friends' in the police station, and later threatened the victim that she is above media and keeps journalists in her pocket.
"After I was not given any attention by the incharge WC, I haplessly said that when I am left with no option, I may go to media," said Suman Kumari while talking to Early Times, adding that on hearing this , Arti Thakur reverted with an air of swank saying, " What media. All journalists I keep in my pocket," said Suman Kumari.
Later Suman Kumari, who toiled pillar to post from Bari Brahmana police station to Women Cell to Government Medical College gave a horrible account of her husband's atrocity on her who demanded dowry from her and beat her throughout the night of incident to leave her half dead.
Suman Kumari is wedded to Rajesh Sadhotra of Palli , a diehard drunkard who often beat her wife for being unable to conceive a baby boy and failing to bring dowry for him.
Suman who along with her younger sister Laxmi, after being abandoned by the Bari Brahmana police station reached Women Cell to be disgraced by the Incharge Arti Thakur , later sought refuge at Press Club Jammu from where she was shifted to Government Medical College Jammu.
"On the way to GMC only , my sister received call from some police official from Bari Brahmana who rushed to GMC to get my charge filed against my husband," said Suman Kumari while expressing her gratitude to media persons for reaching to her help.
The agony of the victim did not end here, when after being admitted in the hospital, the GMC authorities did not looked into the gravity of the matter and discharged the victim in the mid of night without giving any reason , later to readmit her back in the hospital today morning.
"She was admitted and later discharged in the midnight. Again she has been re-admitted in the hospital today morning. I am looking into the matter and find out what was the reason behind it," said a perplexed medical superintendent GMC, Dr Ravinder Rattan Pal.
The aggrieved woman's mother and sister who accompanied her in the whole traumatic exercise said that police dodged them at various points and were left hapless for the want of justice.
Meanwhile, a top police official said that Arti Thakur's demeanor against the media is uncalled for and the matter would be looked into.
Some of the women social organizations and the organizations working against crime against women met the victim and assured the family for delivering justice to her.
Women Cell incharge Arti Thakur did not take any call from the office after being repeatedly contacted on her mobile phone.
