Students file compliant to ADC alleging teachers demanding bribe to promote them

Rajouri, May 7: In a bizarre incident reported from education sector some students of Govt Higher Secondary School (GHSS) approached Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Rajouri and apprised him that two lecturers have been demanding Rs2000/- from each student for their promotion to next class i.e. 12th standard.
According to reports, out of about 330 students about 120 students have been declared failed in 11th class and they alleged teachers demanding money for their promotion to next class.
Some of the students namely Jaffar, Safayat and Nazeer alleged that many students including the son of one of the lecturer identified as Shahbaz Muneer have been enrolled in this school but presently studying in expensive schools at Jammu/Rajouri.
"These students have been greasing the palms of these lecturers in order to get copying material and other support during appearing in 12th class final examination to get high percentage of marks" said Safayat.
"These students said that lecturers namely Manzoor Hussain and Ravi Kumar were transferred from this school thrice but with the full support from a local politician they again managed their postings as the school is lying in for flung area and they are involved in providing copying material to influential students on monetarily considerations," they alleged.Citing examples, including the names of Amjad Khan, Shahbaz Muneer and a girl students studying at Jammu, the aggrieved students apprised ADC that these and many more are studying somewhere else but are enrolled in this school.
They added Shahbaz Muneer is a son of lecturer Manzoor Hussain and he never attended the classes(Studying at Rajouri) but got first position in the 11th class examination.
Additional DC, Rajouri, Mohd Saleem Malik after paying patient hearing to the students has directed AH Fani, Chief Education Officer, (CEO) to investigate the authenticity of the complaint and action will be taken accordingly if anyone found guilty.
Meantime following directions of ADC Rajouri, the Chief Education Officer (CEO) A H Fani constituted a three member team headed by Suraj Parkash, Principal GHSS , Dhangri and supported by two senior lecturers to investigate the complaint and other allegations.
"Directions have been issued to the head of the team to complete the investigation within a week and submit his repot along with his remark and suggestions" said CEO.
Meantime the aggrieved students have also warned protest including blocking of Budhal-Rajouri road at Mandargala if the authorities fail to take any action into their complaints.
