Reasi, May 7: Villagers from Bhabber in Reasi District today held a meeting under the chairmanship of Bodh Raj (Sarpanch Halqa Panchayat Bhabber Brahamana) and deliberated upon long pending issues including supply of drinking water, upgradation of education sector and irrigation facilities. During the meeting locals demanded that Govt High School Kundra should be upgraded to Higher Secondary level, early commissioning of Kundra Payee canal which was constructed in 1965. They also demanded compensation to affected people whose lands and houses were washed away in floods and rains in 1992 and 2014 especially in Kai Devta, Bhabber Brahmana to Dera Baba. They lamented that till date no compensation has been given to these people despote repeated requests to concerned authorities. People also demanded a boundary wall should be constructed at Kai Devta so that people could not face the issues relating to floods. The release of payment to those who have worked under MGNREGA schems and yet have not paid till now. They also demanded a Primary Health Centre (PHC) required to cater the need of health facilities for Dera, Bhabber, Kanjali, Shipaanu and other adjoining areas in case of emergency. People also appealed that Chenab irrigation lift Scheme from Gijiya be provided to the farmers so that it would become easy for them for farming. In the meeting, Sarpanch demanded handing over of the ambulance which was donated by Devinder Singh Rana for Ayurvedic dispensary Dera Bhabber but has been standing in District Ayurvedic Hospital, Reasi. Among those who spoek in this meeting were Subash Chander, Suraj Singh, Ghulam Nabi, Mohammad Din, Allah Rakha, Som Dutt, Kanta Devi, Soba Ram, Haji Bagh Ali, Mohammad Sharief( Sarpanch), Sagar Chand, Liaquat Ali, Akbar Ali and Bodh Raj Sharma. |
