JU organizes 7-day training, orientation programme | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 7: A Seven days Training and Orientation programme for NSS Programme Officers of Jammu Region was inaugurated by Prof.R.D.Sharma, Vice Chancellor, JU which is being organized by the office of the Programme Coordinator, NSS, University of Jammu in collaboration with T.O.R.C, Chandigarh. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. R.D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu called to develop the faculties of thinking, analysis and reason and a habit of learning, to increase the general awareness and knowledge and to impart education of excellence as well as of relevance to contemporary needs. Prof. Sharma asked the Programme Officers to understand their responsibility and become role models for their students so that they also emulate the same. Addressing the Participants in the Orientation Programme for Programme Officers from various colleges, Prof. Sharma called for generating awareness among the students and said that NSS programe is a value creation system. He asked the Programme Officers of the various colleges to generate interest among the students and also to create awareness of national and social problems requiring attention. He said that the change will come automatically when the students understand their responsibility towards the society. He asked them to develop among their students a sense of social and civic responsibility and to participate and utilize their knowledge in finding practical solution to individual and community problems. He also expressed satisfaction over adopting of villages by some colleges and said that all the institutions should come forward and work for the welfare of the society especially for those in need. He advised them to dedicate atleast one day in a week or a month towards the social cause. |
