Overloading rule of day, authorities sleep in slumber | | | Early Times Report
Basohli, May 7: Transporters of Mini-buses and buses openly violate traffic/safety rules in hilly Tehsil of district Kathua Basohli while Police and Transport department have adopted a mute spectators approach towards this vital problem which if not curbed timely may turn up into an eventuality. Buses and mini-buses ply from Basholi to Dhar Mahanpur, Sannan ghat, Pertha Nagrota, Jandrota, Bhoond, Bani, Kathua, Jammu are seen in strong competition to carry more passengers than capacity of the vehicle. "They are not afraid of mishap in curved road but are seemed more concerned for picking more passengers which are directly proportional to more money, locals lamented and added, "passengers are overloaded on even roofs and youths especially school going children were asked to hang back the vehicle." Irony of the matter here is this that all this happiness in presence of Police as Police station is situated at bus stand and police men are deployed in main chowks of the links roads but all witness it as mute spectator only and don't take any action against any transporter involved in overloading till date. Locals urged the district administration and Police department to take serious action against such violators and besides imposing heavy fine, departments must warned to cancel their driving licenses if anybody found guilty. The situation is similar in other road like Dayalachak- Billawar, Kathua- Billawar via Lakhanpur and local links roads but the authorities here also are seen in deep slumber and perhaps waiting to an eventuality to happen. |
