Excise Department holds Investiture ceremony 2/15/2016 11:08:59 PM Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 15: Commissioner Secretary, Finance Navin Kumar Choudhary presided over the investiture ceremony of the J&K Excise Department here today. Later,Mr. Navin Choudhary gave away awards to the officers of the J&K Excise Department who have done exceedingly well in different spheres of revenue collection for the Department. On the occasion, Excise Commissioner, Tsering Angchuk highlighted the overall growth scenario of the revenue receipts of the department till January. He mentioned that the revenue realization of the department is going in an upward direction vis-a vis revenue targets fixed for the department for the financial year 2015-16. The total revenue realized by the Excise Department up to January 2016 is Rs.962.18 crore as against Rs.831.37 crore up to the month of January 2015. The Excise Commissioner informed about the efforts made by the field functionaries for maintaining consistent growth of fifteen percent in revenue realization. On the front of eradication and enforcement activity, the Excise Commissioner highlighted the comprehensive drive launched by the Excise Department to arrest the menace of illegal smuggling of liquor, illicit distillation and other violations of the J&K Excise Act, 1958. Deputy Excise Commissioner, Executive Jammu Mohammed Shahid Saleem, and Deputy Excise Commissioner, Toll Post, Lakhanpur Rajesh Sharma, highlighted their respective achievements. Commissioner Secretary while addressing, appreciated the efforts made by the Department towards realization of revenue and also the efforts made to arrest the violations of Excise and Toll laws. He commended all the officers for their best performance and impressed upon them to continue work with same dedication and zeal to achieve the revenue targets.
