Kashmir observed shut down over civilian Killings in Pulwama | Governor seeks report from DGP | | Javaid Naikoo Early Times Report Srinagar, Feb 15: Following the killing of two civilians near encounter site in South District Pulwama, a complete shutdown was observed across Kashmir while Governor NN Vohra has sought report from Director General of Police and ordered a time bound probe. Normal life remained paralyzed across Kashmir as all the business units, educational institutes, government offices remained closed and public transport off the roads over the killing of two civilians near an encounter site in Pulwama on Sunday. To avoid any untoward law and order situation District administration Srinagar had curbed moment of people in areas falling under the jurisdiction of six police stations of Srinagar city and had deployed police and CRPF personals at sensitive locations of Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, Kulgam, Budgam, Sopore and Baramulla. Two civilians Danish Rashid Mir of Ratnipora Pulwama and Shaista Hameed were killed on Sunday when security forces allegedly fired at a group of protesters who according to sources were attempting to break cordon in Kakapora area where an encounter had broken out between militants and security forces. In this incident around ten other civilians also received bullet and tear gas injuries in different villages adjacent to Kakapora who were admitted in different Hospitals of Kashmir. As per details collected protests broke out today at many places across Kashmir including in Dooru of Anantnag, Kakapora, Samboora and in main town Pulwama where youth pelted stones on security forces deployed to restrict moment of people to avoid any law and order situation arising out of such incidents. Reports of some youth injured in stone pelting areas and later shifted to different Hospitals of Pulwama and Srinagar were also received from villages falling under Pulwama district. In day long clashes at different parts of Pulwama today according to details arround 14 youth were injured, while one policeman also sustained injuries in a stone pelting incident in Pulwama. Reports of Stone pelting also surfaced from central Kashmir's Ganderbal were incidents of stone pelting between youth and security forces were reported. In Srinagar where authorities had restricted moment of people to avoid any law and order situation, youth in Rajouri Kadal and in outskirts Narbal area clashed with security forces stones, however Police exercising restraint retaliated by firing of teargas shells to disperse the youth. In view of abnormal circumstances following the killing of two civilians, authorities had suspended train service in Kashmir as well for precautionary measures. As per an official communication Governor has separately sought detailed report from Director General of Police (DGP) on the Pulwama and directed that the Magisterial Enquiry by Additional District Magistrate must be completed within the stipulated time frame. He has also directed the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir to visit SMHS Hospital at Srinagar where the injured persons have been admitted for treatment and extend all necessary assistance to the families of the victims as well as those injured in yesterday's incident. Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulwama as per directions has been asked to investigate the incident and submit report within 15 days |
