Mendhar, Feb 15: SPO Shakeel Ahmad, who was abducted by three persons from here on February 11 last and taken to the Jhajjar Kotli woods, has managed to escape from their captivity.
Shakeel, who is PSO of SDPO, Mendhar, was allegedly kidnapped by Iftahar Ahmad alias Bittu, son of Mohammad Sadiq of Banola.
He told police that Iftahar along with other two persons kidnapped him in a car. "They blindfolded me and took me to the Jajjar Kotli forests the next day, but I somehow succeeded to flee from their captivity," he said and added that he then called up his father and narrated him the entire story," he said.
After the matter came to their notice, cops of Mendhar police station called up Jajjar Kotli police station. Cops from Jhajjar Kotli police station later took the custody of the SPO and then sent him to Mendhar, police sources said.
Mendhar police have registered an FIR against the accused under sections 364 and 342 of RPC.
In his written complaint, Shakeel alleged that the accused was the close relative of the PSO of a senior National Conference leader of the area
SHO of Mendhar police station confirmed that a case of kidnapping had been registered and investigation was in progress. |
