Rail services suspended yet again in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Feb 15: Rail services in the Kashmir valley have been suspended yet again for security reasons following a strike called by separatist organizations in protest against the death of two students allegedly in security force firing in south Kashmir Pulwama yesterday.This is the third time rail services have been suspended in the Valley during the past one week. A railway official said that the services remained suspended for the second day today between Badgam-Srinagar in the central Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region via Pulwama and Anantnag due to security reasons. Massive protests erupted in Pulwama after two students-- Shaista Hamid and Danish Rashid-- were killed when security forces opened fire at Kakpora, where people were protesting during an encounter in which a Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militant Adil Ahmad Shergojri alias Abu Bakar was killed yesterday. Railway official said rail services between Srinagar-Badgam and Baramulla in north Kashmir were also suspended today for security reasons. On February 9 and February 11, death anniversaries of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) founder Mohammad Maqbool Bhat respectively, rail service in the Kashmir valley were suspended. |
