Udhampur feb 15: Residents of Remhti today held a demonstration in protest against the dilapidated condition of the locality road. They said even as the road was situated close the posh Housing Colony of Udhampur, the administration was not bothered to repair it. Vikrant Singh, who led the protest, said the Remhti road was important as it was a link between Udhampur town and several villages, including Tirchi, Gandala and Gangeda. The condition of the road, which was last black-topped in 2004, had gone from bad to worse but the authorities concerned were not bothered to repair it, he added. "In case the administration fails to take up the repair work at the earliest, we will be forced to block the national highway," he said. When contacted, PWD Xen said by April, the road would be repaired and black-topped. Among others, Raj Kumar, Amjad Khan and Abdul Majeed were also part of the protest. |
