Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 15: PCC senior vice-president and ex-minister Sham Lal Sharma today said the 10-month BJP-PDP rule in the state was a big failure, alleging that the government, which had misled people with false promises, had failed on all fronts. Addressing the monthly meeting of Chowki Choura Block Congress, he said the BJP-PDP government had failed in addressing the real issues of public interest like ration, power and proper connectivity of roads across the state. Expressing serious concern over scarcity of ration, precarious power situation and bad connectivity of roads across the state, Sham said the shortage of ration in Jammu region "speaks of the insensitivity and callousness of the BJP-PDP government". "The unscheduled power cuts in areas, both metered and unmetered, are a cause of major concern. No development work has been undertaken to improve the poor condition of roads within the state which in turn is a barrier to economic development. As there is no popular government in the state, there is an immediate need for effective measures to bridge the gap between availability and consumption of ration," he added. Development had come to a standstill and economy was in shambles, the internal security was under threat, he said and added that hopes and aspirations of the people had been shattered as there had been no government in the state. He described the BJP-PDP rule as full of contradictions and confusions. People were absolutely disillusioned by the failure of this government. They had a lot of expectations as there was Modi Sarkar at the Centre but they continued to suffer as not a single penny had been sanctioned for Jammu flood victims of September 2014. Sham alleged that since the beginning of this government when the CMP was released, BJP had surrendered all the interests of Jammu region. "Be it the issue of West Pakistan Refugees, common civil code or Art 370, BJP which got 25 seats from Jammu region, surrendered everything. On the other hand, PDP was able to force its issue like withdrawal of AFSPA and status quo on article 370 in CMP,"he said. He also said that uncertainty prevailed in the state and disparity had increased. "Jammu is not getting its share and BJP has been acting like a mute spectator," he added. Among others, the meeting was attended by Ram Swaroop, Convenor Paramand Puri, sarpanches, panches, chairman and judicial members of PRI. |
