Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 15: The state vigilance commission (SVC), while taking a note of embezzlements and other gross irregularities allegedly committed by an official of CAPD department, Udhampur, has directed the state vigilance organisation (SVO) to submit the status report of the case which was already being probed by it. Earlier, while proceeding on a complaint of embezzlement, misappropriation of government ration and bunglings in distribution and trans-shipment of ration to different areas of the district in connivance with mill owners, dealers, truck drivers and a kingpin, SVC sought report from the director of CAPD department, Jammu. The complaint was lodged by the chairman of Udhampur Transport Cooperative Ltd against an official of CAPD department, Udhampur, who was alleged to have impeded the smooth functioning of the department by abusing his official position, thereby causing a huge loss to the state exchequer. The report submitted by the CAPD director prima-facie revealed that he, instead of initiating any comprehensive inquiry into the allegations levelled against the delinquent official, had tried to veil the issue by acting as a mere negotiator rather than playing a responsible role to unravel the truth on the basis of available evidence. SVC, while pursing the record available, observed that a case stood already registered in SVO against the said official in connection with siphoning off essential commodities as well as criminal breach of trust, but the higher authorities had given him important assignments even as he had a doubtful integrity. SVC, before taking a final call in the matter, directed SVO to submit status report in the case being probed by it against the said official under FIR No 06/2009. |
