Seven held with huge consignment of intoxicants drugs

Jammu, Feb 15: Police today claimed to have arrested seven drug peddlers in two separate raids and recovered huge consignment of prescription drugs (restricted sale) which included 650 bottles of Corex and 8200 intoxicant capsules Spm-Prx (Trade name) manufactured by Wochardt.
According to police sources, during a joint naka by Gandhi Nagar Police and SOG (Special Operation Group) near Nai Basti and Panama Chowk respectively, police recovered a huge consignment of intoxicants drugs with the arrest arrest of seven accused here today.
Giving details sources said, "During a naka at Panama Chowk a truck bearing regd no: JK14D-5478 being driven by Liaquat All s/o Fareed Ahmed of Bagar -Doda was stopped on suspicion." Police team recovered 500 bottles of Corex during thorough search of vehicle and belongings of four occupants of truck including its driver namely Liaquat All, Irshad Ahmed s/o Aahtab Din r/o Batote, Rakesh Sharma s/o Paras Ram R/O Jogwan, Akhnoor and Atam Singh s/o Knshan Chand r/o Dharam Kund, Ramban.
In a similar incident a truck bearing regd no:UK08CA-3716 driven by Parvez Ahmed s/o Mir Hussain of Handarva Baderabad, Haridwar was stopped for checking at another naka.
"On checking of vehicles and belongings of occupants of truck police recovered 150 bottles of Corex and 8200 Capsules of Spm-Prx (Wochardt) from the possession of three persons including its driver Parvez Ahmed, Raju Pandit s/o Amika Pandit r/o Panchrukhi, Ramnagar A/P Rajouri and Abdul Rehman s/o Iqbal Ahmed r/o Haridwar and Kalyan Sharief of Uttrakhand, sources added.
They said,"During questioning the drug peddler deposed that the consignment in question is meant for sale among the youths of J&K State and was brought from outside the state. It also came to fore that drug smugglers have changed their modus operandi i.e. smuggling drug consignment in trucks instead of bus/train route."
"Accordingly, case FIR No. 47/2016 u/s 8/21/22 NDPS Act and case FIR No. 48/2016 u/s 8/21/22 NDPS Act respectively registered with Police Station Gandhi Nagar, police sources added
They said that the catch was made by SHO Gandhi Nagar Bishnesh Kumar, SP South Shehzad Salaria, SP SOG Udey Bhaskar Billa under overall supervision of SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
