Early Times Report Kathua, Feb 15: Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts (SaMaPa) is presenting the 10th edition of the festival from 16th to 26th February 2016 at more than 20 different venues in Jammu and adjoining border areas like Samba, Akhnoor, Rajouri, Poonch, R S Pura, etc. The second part of the festival will later be held in Kashmir region in March this year. Music maestro Abhay Rustum Sopori, who has conceived the festival, while interacting to the media fraternity here today, said "this year the SaMaPa festival, which is specially youth oriented, is expected to be witnessed by over 50,000 people especially the youth of the State. The festival, over the last decade, has been a medium for the local and upcoming musicians to share a platform with eminent musicians of national and international level. The festival will be open to music connoisseurs of J&K and will be a great musical treat to them. It will be one of the biggest musical extravaganzas that the State will witness". "SaMaPa specially conceived this festival in the year 2006 to revive the cultural scenario of the State.," he said adding that the festival is a learning based programme and acts like a musical balm creating cultural awareness and new avenues for the younger generation. |
