Capacity Building Workshop concludes at CUJ | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 18: Two-day Capacity Building workshop on "Effective Managerial Skills for Registered Artisans of J&K" was organised by the Department of HRM and OB, Central University of Jammu. The two-day workshop was sponsored by Ministry of Textiles, Government of India under capacity building scheme. The two day long extensive workshop focused on enhancing various capacities of the artisans covering skills pertaining to their self development, development of their business skills and also how they can market their products and build business. Prof. Lokesh Verma welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries and participants. Speaking on the valedictory session, Shabnam Kamli, Director Technical Education Chief Guest on the occassion, praised the efforts of the department of HRM and OB for taking this initiative. She expressed that the career skills instilled through this workshop would enable these artisans to architect rewarding careers for themselves. G. P. Singh, Guest of Honour on the occasion highlighted the importance of reviving the dying crafts of the state and impressed upon the artisans to take make maximum benefits from such workshops. Jit Singh, Registrar Central University Jammu appreciated the artisans for showing their motivation and contributing to the society by their productive skills. He also highlighted that University would provide such platforms that would nurture their talent apart from mutual harmony and understanding. Earlier, during the inaugural session of the workshop, Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu, open heartedly welcomed the initiative and urged upon the participants to take maximum benefit of the workshop. He also suggested that the workshop should be an anchor for coming out with deeper insights on developing a strategic vision and an enriched discourse that would empower artisans to seek, develop and sustain business which exists with societal needs. In this regard, he assured that Central University of Jammu will create an online platform to market and promote the unique art and craft of the these artisans. He also announced that under the aegis of the Community College of Central University of Jammu, a course on handicraft skill development shall commence from the next academic session. A stipend of Rs. 1000 shall also be paid to each participant enrolled for the course. An exhibition of the products prepared by the artisans was also organised during the day. A similar exhibition has also been planned by Climate Change Centre, J&K at Jammu. The participants expressed deep gratitude and satisfaction over the two day activities. |
