Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 18: A former cabinet Minister of PDP-BJP coalition government ostensibly compelled a Head of Department under him to buy a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) for him and threatened to transfer him if he failed to oblige, sources told Early Times on Friday. A few months ago, a former cabinet minister allegedly intimidated a chief of one of the departments to gift him a SUV, they said. " The Minister took advantage of the fact that huge funds were allocated to the department headed by the officer. Initial attempts by the officer to resist the Minister's attempt proved futile as the Mantri threatened to attach him (the officer)," the source said. "At last the official succumbed under pressure and gifted a SUV to the Mantri from his pocket," the source claimed. He said, "Presently son of the former Mantri drives the SUV." The ex-cabinet Minister in question, sources said, had earned a bad name for his alleged rough language towards his subordinates and the voters. "The ex-minister is still active and is getting the officials transferred after taking huge amounts from them especially the police officials," sources claimed. |
