2 yrs on, GoI yet to sanction PMGSY projects of Rs 1500 cr to JK 3/18/2016 11:38:11 PM Arun Singh Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 18: Defeating the objective of connecting the unconnected villages under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), the Centre Government has yet to sanction projects worth Rs 1500 crore which are laying for their approval for the last two years. Sources told Early Times that the state government had sent projects of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana to Centre Government under Phase-X for their approval which have not been cleared yet by the center and posed several queries on them. "The proposal of State Government under PMGSY, the projects amounting Rs 3300 crore were sent to centre, thereby centre by posing queries asked the State Government to curtail the amount of projects and accordingly the State Government after going through to cumbersome process lessen the amount to Rs 1500 crore and sent back the proposal to centre which are being still awaited for their approval," they said. They further said that due to non sanction of projects and subsequent the releases of funds, the works on several road projects aiming to connect the unconnected villages have come to halt depriving the people of far flung areas of surface communication. "At time the State should have been given sanction of projects under Phase XII but the centre has not given its approval of projects of Phase-X yet. By not approving the PMGSY Projects, the cost escalation is increasing with each passing day thereby making difficult for the State Government to execute the work and ensuring their completion in time due to delayed release of funds," they informed further saying that State Government is suffering huge loss in the developmental aspect. They said that due to non availability of funds the contractors are without payment of their bills of the work done resulting further they are not hesitating to take work under PMGSY which is a severe blow to the main objective of scheme.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
