Srinagar, Mar 18: At a time when the crusade against the corruption is being launched by the state dispensation, voices of concern are being heard about the veracity of the complaints being made anonymously in state's anti- graft bodies. The officials of the various departments have written to the higher authorities- asking that only that compliant related to the corruption should be entertained which has the proper address and the name of the complainant mentioned. The officials of the various government departments have maintained that due to the personal rivalry and grudges, pseudo graft related complaints are often made in the vigilance department and the energies are being wasted over such exercises which at the end of the day turn out to be mere hoax. The officials through the various representations have been striving to reach out to the Governor NN Vohra, submitting that 'anonymous complaints may kindly be given the wide berth by his august office'. There are also the concerns being expressed at large that the officials in the anti- graft bodies are being taken for a ride by certain 'notorious' persons who often make the baseless complaints anonymously against those they have personal vendetta. A senior official told Early Times that there were atleast 3-4 complaints made against him anonymously by some persons, resulting in his thorough grilling by the vigilance department here. "There was a thorough probe ordered against me. An inquiry was later lunched but everything in the end was a mere hoax and a conspiracy hatched by few individuals to mislead the anti- graft body in the state which is being run by the state exchequer, " said the official, adding that he is not alone against whom the vendetta of such a degree was launched sans any ground. Another official stated that there are various instances when anonymous complaints were made to drain out the public money was investigated launched were anonymous and hence pseudo. Meanwhile, a vigilance officail told Early Times that his department has already taken up the issue with the higher authorities and that the issue is being deliberated thoroughly to evolve a consensus that whether such a complaint be registered which is anonymous in nature. "We have witnessed scores of instances when the complainant had mentioned Well Wisher of the state instead of his/ her name and hence keeping the identity anonymous. When we initiate inquiries into such complaints, they usually turnout to be a hoax and no graft chance is found against the accused person. In such exercises we lose months and sometimes years," divulged the officials. Furthermore, there are citizens pitching that only those graft related complaints be registered which have a proper name and address so that the public money may not be wasted over the futile exercises as witnessed in the past. |
