Early Times Report

JAMMU, Mar 18: With BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav rejecting fresh conditions on formation of coalition government by PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and putting all speculations to rest regarding formation of government in the state, the issue may figure in BJP's two day National Executive meeting beginning in Union Capital from Saturday.
The meet will be chaired by National president of the party, Amit Shah and besides Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, Home Minister Raj Nath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitely and members of council of ministers Party MPs both from LS and RS Party presidents and general secretaries of all states besides special invitees. According to party sources the two days National Executive besides discussing prevailing political scenario in the country, ongoing talks with Pakistan, forthcoming Sharief -Modi meet, strategy for the coming elections in five states including West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, the Meeting will discuss the future strategy in the J&K State in the wake of fresh conditions proposed by PDP leadership. Sources said that BJP does not like to take any risk in formation of government with PDP by accepting the fresh conditions imposed by Party and its outright rejection by Ram Madhav was a signal that BJP has not mellowed down and compromised its position just for the sake of government formation in the State. BJP which has kept its options open regarding government formation in the State, has made it clear that it is committed to agenda of alliance signed with former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and nothing except that will be acceptable. This has put a hold on all speculations for the formation of future government in the State. Meanwhile four senior BJP leaders including Sat Sharma State president of the Party, organizational general secretary of the State Ashok Kaul, BJP Legislative Party leader Dr Nirmal Singh, former State president and MLC Ashok Khajuria who are the members of National Executive left for New Delhi to participate in the meeting. Besides them the other members of NE from State including Minister in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh, former State president and MP Jugal Kishore Sharma and other two MPS Thumpstang and Shamsher Singh Manhas are already in Delhi as Parliament is in session. These leaders will also attend the meeting, sources added. They said Party president and senior leaders will also have a separate meeting with these leaders to ascertain their views on future course of action and discuss the prevailing political situation in the State with them. Sources said that there is also a brewing resentment among PDP legislators over the decision of the Party for delaying the government formation in the State as majority of PDP MLAs are of the view that this will harm the prospectus of the Party in the State and give an edge to its arch rival National Conference (NC). These leaders according to sources have termed the delaying tactics and imposition of fresh conditions by Party leadership an immature step and they have likely conveyed the same to the Party High Command also.
