Heavy rains, hail storm damage crops in Poonch | | | Early Times Report Poonch, Mar 18: As predicted rains for entire state of Jammu and Kashmir due to western disturbances, Poonch district today witnessed heavy rains followed by hail storm resulting to heavy damage to the standing crops and fruit orchards. Local reports said, "The areas which mostly witnessed the nature's fury included Mendhar, Surankote, Mandi Balakote, Mankote, Poonch town and many other adjoining hamlets. "At several places mud and landslides were triggered after heavy rains which disconnected several areas from the rest of world, lamented locals in Mendhar. District Development commissioner Poonch Mohd Haroon Malik today told Early Times that the directions have been passed to R&B Sub Division office to restore the damaged roads on priority basis and teams have been constituted to assess the damages of the crops suffered by the famers due to hail storm and heavy rains. DDC Poonch said that the survey teams will submit their report to my offices within shortest possible time and compensation to deserving farmers for crops loss will be sanctioned in due course of time. |
