Shocking facts: Govt Primary schools in Poonch running in ‘one room’
3/18/2016 11:35:59 PM
Early Times Report

Mendhar, Mar 18: The tall claims of streamlining education system including basic infrastructure by the government and concerned authorities seems to have fallen flat as some schools in Mendhar and Nagal Gali Zones of Poonch run classes from a single 'shanty room' evidently speaks about the provision of infrastructure in government managed schools.
According to sources within education department also added this is not an isolated example of poor infrastructure in school as Government Hr Sec School Ghani in Mendhar which has over 340 students enrolled from class 6th to 12th is housed in only three rooms with no play ground facilities. Sources said,"Government Primary School Dachan Mohalla Manhasa in Mendhar has 26 students on rolls in various classes viz. from first to fifth class and has three teachers.
"However the main problem being faced by the students and the teachers of the school is the lack of space i.e. they have only one 'shanty like room' in the name of school to save them weather hostilities- rains and severe cold. Most of the times, especially during rains, all these classes are accommodated in the only room, thereby putting the students to a lot of inconvenience", said some locals.
Meanwhile sources further disclosed that the school land has been encroached by the land grabbers and no official seems to be bothered.
Yet in another similar example, Primary School Nagal Gali zone Mankote of Mankote tehsil. "This school has a total of 50 students and 3 Teachers bit sadly enough this school too has one only one room which is to be described as 'School building. Locals and teacher lamented that they have to cook Mid Day Meal (MDM) and serve in this only room while MDM stock and other official stationary to is kept in this room which eats up the space leaving very few room for students.
"So we have to take out classes in open, a teacher said on anonymity.
