Two Kashmir based cattle thieves held | | | Early Times Report RAJOURI, Mar 18: Police today claimed to have arrested two thieves hailing from Chattipura of Shopian district for their involvement in the theft of 30 cattle including goats and sheep from a remote Village under the jurisdiction of Kalakot Police Station of Rajouri district. Giving details, a senior police officer said, "On February 20, the accused duo namely as Javed Ahmed s/o Ali Mohd and Mohd Ishaq s/o Mohd Bashir both from Chattipura of Shopian district allegedly decamped with 30 goats and sheep owned by one Mohd Zakia 'Master'. "After three days search Mohd Zakia and his family members lodged a complaint through Sahid Ahmed son of Mohd Zakia on February 23 with Kalakot police alleging some unidentified persons has stolen their cattle, he said. "Accordingly a case was registered against the unidentified persons under section 380 RPC (FIR No 14/16), he said Police also utilized the services of their sources and finally on March 15 both the accused were apprehended by the police from Kurlian area under Kalakot Police Station" said police officer, adding, "the whole investigation was conducted under the overall supervision of Rajeshwar Singh,SSP. During sustain interrogation both the accused admitted the theft and disclosed to the police that they were planning to sell the goats and sheep in Kashmir. "Police also seized Tata 407 vehicles bearing registration No JK14A-7914 in which the sheep and goats were loaded to take to Kashmir via Udhampur" said the officer. |
