2 killed, 8 hurt in Tavera mishap | | | M S NAZKI POONCH, June 5: A Tavera fell into a deep gorge at Kallar near Jaranwali Gali here early this morning, resulting in the death of its driver and an ex-CRPF cop, and injuries to eight others. The ill-fated cab (JK21/8979) fell into the gorge at about 3.45 am after its driver failed to negotiate a sharp curve at Kallar, police sources said. The rescue operation was launched jointly by police and locals. Two persons died on the spot in the incident while eight others survived with critical injuries. The dead were identified as driver Tanveer Ahmad, son of Sher Mohammad of Sawjian, and ex-CRPF cop Mohammad Sofi. The injured included Zaffer Ahmed, son of Mohammad Azam of Kalaban, Mehmood Ahmed, son of Mohammad Azam of Kalaban, Zaffar Iqbal, son of Abdul Hamid of Kallar Katal, Surankote, Mohammad Irfan, son of Mohammad Bashir of Nabna, Poonch, Zakir Hussain, son of Wali Mohammad of Degwar, Poonch, Mohammad Sadiq, son of Fateh Mohammad of Degwar, Poonch, Abdul Karim, son of Said Mohammad of Jhallas, Poonch, and Mohammad Ibrahim, son of Abdul Karim of Jhallas. All of them were admitted to SDH, Surankote. Mohammad Sadiq, Mohammad Karim and Zakir Hussain were later referred to the GMCH, Jammu. |
