Hotels constructed in Eco fragile zone using chemicals to destroy green trees On world environment day, Gulmarg forests losing green gold 6/5/2016 11:48:07 PM Asif Iqbal Naik Early Tmes Report SRINAGAR, June 5 : As world is celebrating world environment day, the Forest officials in world renowned tourist resort are sleeping over devastating act of the hotel owners, who have not only established hotels in prohibited zones, but were allegedly using mysterious chemicals which were gradually drying up the natural vegetation. While talking to "Early Times" the locals informed that many green trees around Hotel Khyber and Hotel Zangeer Continental are drying up at rapid speed alleging that the hotel owners were putting some chemicals on the deodar trees as a result of which these trees had started drying up. They also alleged that forest officials are well aware about this silent killing of green trees and further alleged that it is being done in a planned manner. The people also informed that the waste material from several hotels including human excretion has been thrown into the open disturbing the fresh environment. The people also rued the permission given to some telecom companies for digging the earth so as to lay the optical cable underground adding that there were apprehension of damages to road by way of collapsing of Brest walls of the road as in rainy and Snow season, the water get absorbed into the trenches dug by telecom operators.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
