Srinagar, June 5: Putting a huge burden on the state exchequer, the state motor garages department has allegedly allotted luxury vehicles to certain ARTOs without following rules. As per the government rules, entitlement of government vehicles is limited to ministers and administrative secretaries. However, according to sources in state motor garages, a senior officer, without any government permission, was alleged to have allotted three luxury vehicles -- JK01M/1663, JK01M/1661 and JK02H/9146 to ARTO, Budgam, ARTO, Pulwama, and ARTO, Srinagar, respectively. "I fail to understand that how the officer has allotted these vehicles to those who are not entitled for such facilities. Motor Garage vehicles are being misused repeatedly," sources alleged while appealing the higher authorities to take a serious note of the matter. Sources alleged that the senior officer was also misusing a state motor garages vehicle. "There is wanton misuse of a government vehicle bearing registration No JK02AU/5538, meant for high dignitaries, with excessive fuel consumption of at least 7 lts of fuel a day," sources alleged. Sources alleged that some more vehicles bearing registration Nos -- JK01L -8118, JK01L -3452, JK02U- 6666 (Scorpio) and JK01F- 0009 (Xylo) - were also being misused. "It is the duty of the government to take notice of such matters and ensure that no one gets more than his actual entitlement but it has miserably failed to perform its this duty," sources alleged. Sources called upon the vigilance organization to take note of these violations in the state motor garages. Despite repeated attempts, director of state motor garages could not be contacted for his comments. |
