Anantnag, June 5: Security agencies today claimed to have identified on the basis of CCTV footage the militant who was involved in the yesterday's killing of two police personnel at the bus stand here. The CCTV footage showed two youth carrying AK rifles on Khanabal-Pahalgham road. While one kept standing near a car, the other, who had a bag, walked up to the vehicle. The one standing near the white car was identified as Junaid Mattoo, a resident of Khudwani. He had left home in June last year when he was 18 and had joined the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror outfit, police sources said. This militant attack has evoked a sharp reaction from general public, particularly from the native villages of killed police personnel. "If this is jihad, we are sorry to be part of this brutality," local awqaf chairman, who led the funeral process of ASI Bashir Ahmad, who was killed in the terror attack, at Aishmuqam, told the gathering yesterday. He also termed the killing of cops as un-Islamic. |
