NC's political 'move' to face strategic 'punch' from Govt | Discussion on Autonomy resolution implementation in LA unlikely | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 5: Resolution on implementation of Autonomy in the state by National Conference is unlikely to come up for discussion in the current session of Assembly even as it stands submitted in the House by party's Ali Mohammad Sagar in accordance with the procedural norms for inclusion in the business. Sources said though NC's move on the Autonomy is driven by the motive to corner its rival and ruling PDP, the latter would not let any situation happen which would pose problem or put both the ruling allies in a tight spot. The alliance government would not reject it right away as that would provoke NC into pointing fingers at it, mainly PDP said the sources adding that it will be included along with other resolutions on the stipulated day , most likely towards the end of the session. However, it would be handled deftly, rather with strategy that no room is left for the discussion in the House, said the sources. Sources further said it also depends upon the decision of the Business Advisory Committee which has members from the opposition parties also on board. BAC would sit afresh to decide upon a host of issues related to certain important business to be taken up in the current session, sources said adding that even if it gives nod to get the resolution enlisted in the business for any particular day fixed for resolutions, the ball will be in the Speaker's court as much as the nature of business and its sequence in terms of time that will determine the fate of this resolution. Most likely it will not be taken up for the discussion on certain pretexts. Though not enlisting it in the business is an option with the government but it will not resort to that move as it will prompt NC to shift blame on PDP that party is not willing to strengthen the special status and Art 370, that forms the very basis of the Autonomy resolution. While the government is prepared to handle the sensitive matter deftly, on the other hand NC too is actually not that keen on this subject to be taken up for discussion in the House fearing political backlash on its own role and double standards on the issue from all parties including PDP, BJP as also the Congress which has already made it clear that it will not support the implementation of the resolution but it will certainly take part in the discussion if that happens in the House. |
