Khadse's resignation exposes BJP's double standard | Why same yardstick not applied in J&K ? | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jun 5: Resignation of Eknath Khadse, the Revenue Minister in the BJP-led government in Maharashtra, has exposed double standard of nationalist BJP because similar allegations are leveled against two party ministers in the coalition government of J&K, where BJP is enjoying power with the PDP. Eknath Khadse, the strong OBC leader of Maharashtra, was asked to submit his papers because he was facing serious allegations. Khadse's troubles had aggravated over the last 15 days after Pune-based realtor Hemant Gavande made serious charges of land grabbing against him. Gavande alleged that Khadse had misused his position as the state revenue minister to illegally execute sales deeds for a three-acre industrial plot at Bhosari in Pune district in the name of his wife and son-in-law. Khadse has denied any wrong doing in the affair. However, the central leadership sent him a clear and stern signal that he had no option but to quit since his continuance would damage the image of the ministry led by the party and give leverage to the opposition to challenge the BJP's commitment to provide corruption-free rule. Khadse's resignation has sent a good message but everyone is asking, why similar yardstick in not adopted in Jammu and Kashmir where corruption has crossed all limits because BJP ministers are playing in the hands of power brokers and touts. Allegations being levelled against Khadse about land grabbing and indulged into corrupt practices but two BJP cabinet ministers in J&K facing similar charges but why double standard and two yardstick. Why same yardstick is not applicable in J&K. |
