Locals protest against contractor for leaving 'work halfway'

Mendhar, June 5: Some youths protested against contractor for allegedly trying to shift blacktopping machine from Suran Mendhar road leaving the ongoing work in progress.
Local reports said that a group of youths of Harni locality led by Bobby Khan stopped loaded tipper of 'Black Tar' of contractor as they claimed that the Public Works Department (PWD) officials have agreed to black top the road in their locality but shifting of machine and material indicates that the department and contractors has either back tracked or want to abandon the work in halfway.
Meanwhile following resistance from locals, the contractor approached ex minister Sardar Rafiq Hussain Khan on telephonically and assured to complete the work and ex minister took up the issue with concerned minister who assured that he will direct the chief engineer to continue the blacktop work of said road.
The local lifted their protest after they were assured that the black topping will be start tomorrow by the PWD officials.
