Despite 90 Water Supply schemes on papers, Kishtwar faces water crises | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Srinagar, June 7: The government of Jammu and Kashmir today admitted that there is shortage of Drinking Water in Kishtwar locality as well as in surroundings areas adding that the department has taken steps to resolve the supply in Kishtwar by providing additional three state lift scheme from HRT Dul Hasti to filtration plant Kishtwar, . The govt also stated that the augmentation of Kishtwar town Naigard Nullah source under Special Task Force is also in progress. In response to C.Q No. 26 of MLC, Assistant Director (P) PHE, I&FC Department on behalf of Minister in charge PHE, I&FC Department in a question regarding number of ongoing water supply schemes under central/ State/District/ NABARD in District Kishtwar stated that there are 90 different water supply schemes under different programs in Kishtwar District which include state sector 01, STF 01, NRDWP(CSS)) 48 and District Plan 48 schemes. In another question that whether it is a fact that most that most of the daily rated workers are without wages for the last one year, the government reply was not clear and it stated that the payments to Daily Wagers, C.P Workers/Need Bases workers for the last year has been made as per projection made by the department for said cause added that subsequently wages are released by the department in avour o respective HODs as per the funds adopted/release by the finance department. As per government reply stated that DPRs of WSS Kwar Tanzi, WSS Lohama, WSS Dichher, WSS Salana Badhat (Lift), WSS Margi, WSS Naber Mathwan, WSS Astan Gam, WSS Drab Phagwar, WSS Dadpath (Lit), WSS Door Bhagran Sarthal, WSS Wanpattan Dool are pending and are under process for accord of administrative approval. Meanwhile MLC also raise the issue of defunct electricity system in erstwhile Doda District in the Legislative Council in presence of Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister who also holds the power portfolio in PDP-BJP government. He said that many HT/LT wires in many areas of Kishtwar and its adjoining Districts are barbed tied with trees and rotten wooden poles and demanded immediate replacement of all such wires and wooden poles beside also seeks augmentation of receiving stations in Kishtwar District for hassle free supply of electricity. He also raise the issue of transportation of repairing transformers by locals in far flung areas on their own expenses and without departmental support and also urged upon the Chief Minister to include Power Development Department in priority sector on the pattern of Education and Health Department . While reacting to the issues raised by the MLC, Deputy CM Nirmal Singh admitted that the HT/LT network system at many places is in bad condition and required immediate attention. He said that all the concern issues including augmentation of receiving station and provision of funds for head load transportation of transformers in far flung areas will be looked into on top priority. |
