JAMMU, June 7: BJP minister's amusement through the PDD website to handle power crisis may be a cause for self satisfaction for the department but the hide and seek game for obtaining electricity seems to be an open ended with miseries of consumers multiplying with every passing day.
Taking to task the PDD department to launch its website extending facility of getting electricity bills and paying them online, IsharDass of Nanak Nagar mocked at the BJP minister saying that it may be useful for the department to mitigate its burden by rendering online PDD services, and added that it will be just to put the cart before the horse. He said that PDD is more worried to collect revenue through the mode of online system which otherwise the people of Jammu are paying every month through banking system, but what are its plans and programmes to enhance power supply and surmount its shortage, further said, asking why does the power supply system has not been put in place so far by the department on the hassle-free lines exactly akin to online billings and payment and ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity to consumers, he taunted.
Reliable sources informed that recently senior Minister, visited Jammu in connection with inauguration of Convention Centre alongwith Chief Minister and later he called few media persons for dinner the same evening , sources told ,adding that during dinner party, few BJP leaders asked the Minister that the situation on the power front is very tender with people pestering them for arranging electricity. In response sources allegedly told that instead of showing his seriousness for power of which he is concerned minister, he quipped the BJP leaders asking them to enjoy dinner and this issue can be looked after later on. Such an indifferent attitude of senior Minister speaks enough about his sense of belonging for Jammu. They said that one wonders in which world he is flying after grabbing power that he has absolutely forgotten his responsibility as senior Minister because of which the people of Jammu are facing tough time with kids , school/college going students, old, feeble and sick people are the worst hit due to the negligence of the department, they rued.
Ram Krishna of Jourian while talking to Early Times correspondent told that the purchasing capacity of general public has increased considerably even in rural areas, but ,alas, the managers of Power Development Department have lost the capacity to regulate power supply and update sick electricity system despite spending crores on the name of connecting each and every village by installing electric poles without any scope of supplying power to villagers . Jai Kishore, a small time worker residing in hilly area of Billawer said that despite his meagre monthly income, he will feel pleasure to foot the bill of electricity as per meter reading without any hanky panky provided the PDD opens its eyes from the slumber and ensures power to public as regularly and quickly as the departmental officers expect the consumers to pay bills regularly and quickly. He repented having voted for BJP candidate in his area who is now holding power portfolio and has shown his inability to improve the functioning of Power Department being inexperienced to handle the nutty gritty of the most crucial department he is heading, he alleged.
Striking hard on the ill managed power crisis by PDD, the villagers in the villages over villages of Jammu division including Khour, Samba, KotMaira, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu city, Miran Sahib border areas of Jammu region etc. are feeling the brunt of power shortage and are up in arms against BJP ministers holding dharnas and blocking roads in pricking summer who have given nothing except lollipops to Jammu with their biggest failure to bring the people out of the power crisis presently suffering badly day in and day out with frequent power cuts coupled with power fluctuations. Seema Rajput of Palanwala said that before coming of BJP people in power, they had developed the habit of making noise staging dharnas over power crisis, especially in sweltering summer, further felt astonished on common saying that old habits die hard, but the BJP leaders have belied this anecdote proving that gone are the days when they fought for Jammu as now they are fighting for survival as long as they can stay in power chair.
Lambasting both BJP in state and at the Centre, Rakesh Kumar of Sainik Colony was critical about non seriousness and lacklustre approach of the government and pointed out that in the state, the power department is headed by a senior BJP minister and at the Centre, it is also headed by BJP minister ,but it is very strange that both representatives of BJP party have shown no interest neither there is any concrete plan envisaged to boost up the power supply in the state. Rather BJP govt has shown thumbs to state government formed with alliance of local BJP and flatly refused to hand over NHPC power projects to state, he decried.
Vikas Sharma of Sarwal Jammu while talking to Early Times said that this season the PDD is playing havoc with the power users making the lives of consumers more worst during this season and snubbed the departmental employees for exchanging hands with public having no permanent electric connections paving way for leakage of power and putting great loss to the department. He said that PDD lacks guts to control and lay hands on such defaulters to save power for genuine users . The sources said that the Chief Minister of the State should intervene in the matter for handling the acute power crisis herself as the present incumbent minister in the power department cannot understand the woes and pangs of public grappling with power crisis in the state, especially here in winter capital undergoing highest temperature with people prefer to remain in four walls of home to avoid killing heat of summer.
