Early Times Report Jammu, June 7: The noteworthy meeting of Azad loyalists and dissidents in the State Congress, which was organized to voice resentment against a senior PCC leader turned out to be a forum of discussion against the incumbent PCC president G A Mir. Even as the meeting was convened by former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand to trigger a banner of revolt in the party against the leader, the maximum speakers turned their guns towards G A Mir holding him responsible for dissidence and disappointment among the party cadre. The significant meeting of Azad loyalists and dissident leaders, was held at a premises of Balwan Singh and was attended by senior leaders, including Tara Chand, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Dr Manohar Lal, Hari Singh, Amolak Singh, Subash Gupta, Arun Sharma, Master Tasaduk Hussain and others. The meeting was organized by Tara Chand for voicing revolt against the leader in protest against his installation as number two in the PCC and giving command of entire Jammu province to him by the party high command. G A Mir was also instrumental in organizing this meeting, though indirectly. The meeting started with direct reference to the leader and his criticism by Tara Chand, who accused the former of being dictatorial while dealing with the party affairs and suggested that the matter should be brought into the notice of high command. However, the meeting soon turned into a front against the incumbent PCC president as other speakers preferred to target G A Mir. Both Jugal Kishore and Manohar Lal Sharma strongly criticized Tara Chand also for keeping mum over wrong acts of G A Mir. "This is not fair to hold the senior leader responsible for the wrongs. Why don't you ask Mir about his not fulfilling the promise of adjusting the dissidents and now making false excuses over the same for the last one year," Jugal Kishore asked Tara Chand in his speech. Senior Congress leader Master Tasaduk Hussain, in his address, even went to the extent of dubbing G A Mir as tout and agent of Captain Satish Sharma. Pointing towards Mir, he said that people have not forgotten the infamous sex scandal and the alleged accused in that case. Even as the participants decided to meet again on June 19 for chalking out their further course of action, sources said that the boomeranging of effort to raise voice against the senior leader is likely to force Tara Chand and G A Mir to change their future strategy. |
