JKPCC fails to complete work on psychiatric hospital in Srinagar | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, June 7: Kashmir valley's lone Psychiatric hospital also known as Mental hospital is in shambles as the construction work undertaken in 2013 is yet to be completed by the J&K Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC). The JKPCC was supposed to complete the construction work in December 2015 , but due to negligence of the officials of JKPCC especially its Manager and JE , only 40 % of construction work has been completed. JKPCC authorities are using B-grade bricks during the construction and Early Times is in possession of some photos of these bricks as well. Details available with Early Times reveal that Principal of Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar made several correspondences with the MD of JKPCC for early competition of work , but the JKPCC hardly gave any importance to Principal's letters. Sources say that B-class bricks are being used in the construction.
Pertinent to mention that JKPCC was earlier exposed as they had allotted 17 crore bridge work to a blue eyed contractor in Ganderbal. In-spite of orders issued by the Government asking J&K Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) to undertake works by floating proper tenders , the JKPCC according to reliable sources allotted a 17 crore bridge work to a blue eyed contractor. It may be recalled that in blatant violation of norms, the Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) has executed a multi-crore project without floating tenders in Doda district of Jammu during 2007. The details were sought under RTI around 5 years back. Information seeker had sought details about the works including tendering process executed on Ganpat Bridge in Doda. |
