As wild fire rapidly consumes Rajouri forests, officer prefers sojourn in cool environ | | | Early Times Report Sunderbani, June 7: Rather than doing all that needs to be done to save crucial forest wealth from wild fire that has engulfed forests of Rajouri, The senior officers of the department are reportedly on sojourn to cool destinations. The tehsil Sunderbani in district Rajouri which is severely affected with forest fire is fast letting its gold green turn into ashes as the concerned officers are preferring to stay in air conditioned cocoons rather than taking up any remedial measures to curb devastating fire. The chief forest conservator, who is the front man to take the first call to take steps to save the green gold is alleged to be saving himself only under the cool environs of his air conditioned office and letting the nature's wealth turn into ashes. The people of the area, particularly Nohoti, where there is major damage reported due to forest fire have many times tried to approach the officers only to return haplessly as the chief forest conservator Roshan Jaggi does not cares to give audience to their pleas. It is pertinent to mention here that Roshan Jaggi who enjoys close liaison with ministers and higher bureaucrats seldom hears to the pleas of the people. Earlier also there have been many reports of illegal felling of the trees in the area, but Roshan Jaggi never paid any attention to such crime when the Early Times tried o contact Jaggi, he did not respond to repeated calls. The forest department that has spent hundreds of crores for preserving the environment and has launched drives of afforestation of the area is now under the scanner for letting such officials acquire the highest position in the department who are themselves to be blamed for the miseries brought to the people. |
