PDP not ready to involve BJP in Anantnag bye-poll campaign | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 7: State unit BJP, for lust of power, has shamelessly abandoned its core agenda but for its coalition partner-Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), BJP is still untouchable. In the on-going campaign for the Anantnag assembly bye-elections, polling for which going to be held on June 22, PDP leadership has made it clear to its coalition partner to maintain a distance from the campaigning. PDP leadership has clearly told BJP leadership that there is no need of their leaders and workers to campaign for chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, who is contesting election from Anantnag assembly seat, which fell vacant due to demise of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. PDP leadership is very much aware that involving BJP ministers and workers in the campaign will be proved counter-productive for the party because opposition parties have already started a campaign against PDP for sharing power with BJP. Opposition Congress and National Conference have involved BJP and RSS in the election so involving BJP in the campaign would provide ammunition to opposition to train guns towards PDP. Secondly, PDP leadership is aware that most of the BJP ministers are indulged into corrupt practices and they proved total failure in their respective department. And failure ministers involved in the campaign is not going to give any benefit to the PDP in the campaign. Neither BJP ministers nor party leaders have credentials to convince the voters, they will rather spoil the atmosphere. Credible sources in the corridors of power said that BJP ministers and some leaders are very enthusiastic to campaign for the chief minister because they want to be in the good book of the chief minister but PDP leadership has straightway rejected their offer to work for party candidate in assembly bye-polls. |
