2039307 local, 56126 foreign tourist visits J&K in two years | Govt spent Rs. 312.98 lakhs on advertisements to promote Tourism, 14.75 lakhs on travelling of officials | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Srinagar, June 7: The government of Jammu and Kashmir today stated that 2039307 local tourists and 56126 foreigners visited the state of Jammu and Kashmir in last two years added that different initiatives from time to time had been taken by the government to promote the tourism sector in the state including exploring of new tourism destinations. In written reply to A.Q No. 161 of MLA Altaf Ahmed Wani, Additional Secretary to Government Tourism Department stated that 1167618 tourist visited the state in the year 2014 which include 1140466 local tourist and 27172 foreign tourists. Similarly 927815 tourists visited the state in the year 2015 which include 898861 local tourists and 28954 foreign tourist. Compared to 2014, less number of tourists visited the state, but the number of foreign tourist slightly increased in the year 2015 as compared to 2014. The government also stated that Rs 312.98 lakhs were spent on advertisement in print ant electronic media for promotion of tourism since 2015 till date which include the advertisements made in local/national/international magazines, Newspapers, Television Commercials in Local & National TV channels, Radio Spots etc. The government also spends Rs. 14.75 Lakhs on travelling and accommodations of various government officers of Tourism Department for participation in International Travels events. The government also spent Rs. 1266469 on inauguration function of Pahalgam Club. The government in reply to a question on details of new tourist destinations proposed to be brought on the tourist map of the state stated that Wadwan/Sinthan, Mazmooh Dooru, Apple Town Chiniwooder Bijbehara, Dudhal Pahalgam, Shrunz Tangmarg, Mantalia Jammu, Bani Basoli, Ranjeet Sagar Dam, Nori Chamb Poonch, Seven Lakes Rajouri, Burzahama Haratbal Srinagar, Fossil Park Khanmoh, Paragliding at Harwan & Tosa Maidan Budgam are some places that will be brought on tourism map of the state. |
