No plan to amend SRO 43 for militancy affected families: Govt | Additional 3000 posts created for KPs under PMRP | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 7: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir in reply to AQ No. 499 of Mohammad Khalil Bandh stated that there is no plan for the government to make any amendment to existing SRO 43 which was last amendment in the year 2008. Government in a written reply to the question that whether it is fact that thousands of persons were killed by the militants/unknown persons in the state, the government replied "Yes" and added that the deceased killed in the militancy related incidents were earlier given appointment under SRO-43, but the policy was modified in the year 2008, notified vide SRO 199 dated 4-07-2008 added that some of the NoKs were not found eligible for appointment, some were not keen to take government service and the number of NoKs seeking government jobs were higher compared to availability of IV class posts. As per the amendment the family members of the civilian killed in militancy related incidents involving relaxation in age and or qualification is entitled for payment/cash compensation of Rs 4 lakhs in lieu of appointment. The reply said, "However those NoKs of the deceased who fulfill the eligibility criteria for appointment in government service at the time of the death of the deceased or acquired such eligibility within five years from the date of the death of the deceased have the option either to take government job or cash provide that the family had applied for the benefit within the mandatory period which is one year from the date of the death of the deceased." In another question, the government stated that in addition to 3000 posts for Kashmiri Pandits created under Rehabilitation Plans in 2008 to provide jobs to migrant youths interested in serving in Kashmir valley, the government o India has conveyed the approval for creation of additional 3000 posts under PMRP for return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Migrants. The government further clarified that the KPs who did not leave Kashmir Valley during the turmoil and are still residing in the Kashmir valley are also eligible for these jobs. |
