JAMMU, June 7: Part of the ongoing Himalayan Trekking Programme being organized by Tawi Trekkers J&K in Moungri area of J&K and Manali-Macleodganj areas of Himachal Pradesh, the fifth group of trekkers comprising 41 students including 11 girls of R M Public School, Chowadi, here today left for Moungri under the leadership of Shashi Kant, a senior member of the club. Three teachers of the school namely, Arti Rajput, Nisha and Nardeep Singh also accompanied the group. With this the participation of Shiksha Niketan group of schools in this year's Himlayan trekking programme has gone up to 170. The group was flagged off by Chairman of R M Public School, Rameshwar Mengi in the presence of Principal of the School, Ravinder Kour and general secretary of Tawi Trekkers, Shawetica Khajuria. A large number of staff members of the school and parents of the participants gave them a warm send off in the school premises. Meanwhile, the first three groups comprising of students of Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar, Jammu have reached back after a memorable experience of trekking in calm and cool pines and learning the techniques of rock climbing and artificial river crossing at Moungri and enjoying the thrill of rafting in the Beas river. The next batch of trekkers of St. Xavier Senior Secondary School, Barnai, Jammu shall leave for Manali- Macleodganj programme on June 10. Tawi Trekkers J&K is a voluntary, non profit making social service adventure sports organization run by a group of highly dedicated young boys and girls whose only aim is to spread the spirit of adventure and love of nature amongst all strata of society without distinction of colour, caste, class or creed. |
