ST status to Paharis: Pahari community hails CM’s statement

RAJOURI, Dec 20: Pahari community leaders under the aegis of various Pahari Community Organisations struggling for the last more than 30 years including JKPPM have hailed the statement of Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to pursue ST Status for the Pahari Community.
On Monday while chairing a meeting of Advisory Board for development of Pahari People had said that the State Government would pursue grant of Schedule Tribe (ST) Status to the people of Pahari Speaking Community.
Pahari Community leaders including Shahbaz Khan, Vinod Kumar have thanked the Chief Minister to take up the matter seriously with the Union Government and for making all possible efforts for empowering the Pahari Community socially and economically. Speakers also hailed the statement of the Chief Minister saying that the State Government has already submitted an elaborate proposal to the Centre which reasons out the need for granting Scheduled Tribe status to the Pahari community. Shahbaz Khan and other community leaders welcomed Chief Minister's statement for assuring that tribal plan for Pahari community would be released soon and that the State Government would make efforts to put the development of Pahari community.
Chief Minister has also assured to provide sufficient funds earmarked for undertaking welfare programmes and schemes for the Pahari community, said Shahbaz Khan
Pahari leaders have also appreciated the efforts of Pahari Community MLAs from Nowshera, Poonch, Karnah, Baramullah Assembly Constituencies and Zaffar Iqbal, Shehnaz Ghanai,and Sayed Rafiq Hussain Shah (all MLCs) for making extra efforts in pursuing the genuine cause of Pahari community at every possible forum.
Amir Qureshi, Satpal Singh, Naseeb Singh, Balbir Sharma,Danish Mughal, A R Mirza, Basharat Hussain, Saleem Naz and Imran Khan were also prese4nt on this occasion.
