APs to bear brunt of Higher Education's incompetence | A day after joining, appointment order kept in abeyance | | Akshay Azad Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 20: The alleged lackadaisical approach of Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education department has reportedly left over sixty newly recruited Assistant Professors for Colleges in lurch as on the very next day of their appointment; their order was kept in abeyance. Newly selected Assistant Professors in the subject of Computer Applications informed Early Times that on 23rd of November, the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission had declared the result, according to which a total of 61 candidates were selected in various categories as Assistant Professors. "The JKPSC had reportedly forwarded the selection list of Higher Education department on the very same day. The Higher Education department kept the list with them for a fortnight and issued the appointments order on 13th of December", a selected candidate said, adding that but to utter surprise of all the selected candidates, the appointment order was kept in abeyance on the 14th of December. The newly selected APs said that as per the abeyance order, issued by Higher Education department, there was a mention of a court order dated 9/12/2016 passed in SWP number 2630/2016 and MP number 1/2016 titled Barun Kumar Bhatti. "The Court had passed the stay order on 9th of December but department was totally unaware of the matter for five days, which only narrates the lethargic functioning of department officials, who remain unaware of court cases, despite having a law officer there", an applicant said, adding that some of the candidates had resigned from their previous jobs and joined the department but now the college Principals, have asked them not to come in colleges until the fate would be decided by Higher Education department. Sources said that Bhatti had reportedly pleaded before the court that his total marks were 52.81 and his category was SLC. "In the waiting list of open merit category, two candidates Zahid Maqbool (52.30) and Gulam Mehndi Mir (52.13) are 3rd and 4th in the list but Bhatti despite having more marks than these two candidates, had not found his name in waiting list of Open Merit category. An official of Higher Education department pleading anonymity said that the situation was created due to the Court stay and it was not any lethargic approach of department. "There are a number of courts across state and whenever there is a stay on any order, either the stay order was personally delivered in the department or it comes from the official channel and it usually takes few days to week time", he said, adding that there was no fault of department at all. |
