BJP rattled by 'self-promoting' leadership | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 20: The state unit of BJP is rattled by increasing instances of 'self-promotion' by its ministers and leaders. Some of the leaders who have parachuted to the party are by-passing the state leadership and even the RSS in getting close to the party's central leadership . According to sources, the state unit leadership was not taken into confidence before finalizing the rally attended by home minister. The state leadership was informed just few days before the rally even though the programme was arranged by the cabinet minister himself only. "The BJP cabinet minister, whose portfolio was taken out recently, has got so close to the central leadership of the party that he without informing none from the state unit, got to the Home Minister for the rally finalized only by him. Surprisingly the Home Minister even gave go ahead to it without even directing him to finalise the programme with local leadership and also with the RSS. More importantly, even the local MP was not informed. It just reflects how BJP, which claimed to be party with the difference, had transformed after coming to the power," said a senior BJP minister. The party sources said that the growing instances of the minister giving two hoots to the party's hierarchy and discipline is making the old especially the old guard of the RSS uncomfortable. "One of the ministers getting cosy with the home minister. Another high-profile leader getting things done by the top most leader of the party and gets directions issued from him for clearance of the stalled project. Another once is helping the setting up of a unit on some one close to the top minister in the Modi government. "All things are being done without being discussed in the party. It shows how ministers and leaders with right contact are pleasing the central leadership for promotion of their own career . Now how can BJP claim to different from the Congress and how can this party safe-guard the interests of the Jammu, when the party leadership is so disjointed and there are so many chinks in their armoury," said the minister. |
