Jammu, Dec 20: Many unrecognized sports activities are taking place under the very nose of the Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council (JKSSC) due to which many youngsters and their parents are getting misled.
Despite JKSSC being aware about these unrecognized sports activities it has not taken any action till the date to stop these illegal practices, which has raised many eyebrows.
Sources within the department told Early Times that there are many un-recognized sports for which many budding players have been presented fake medals and trophies which are of no use in future, adding the people who organize these unrecognized sports take huge amount from budding players and these activities have become big money spinners.
Scores of player said that JKSSC should launch awareness drive to inform the people about recognized and unrecognized sports.
A parent of budding skating player said although the Sports Council knows everything about unrecognized sports but still they are not taking any action. "By not taking action against these unrecognized sports JKSSC is playing with the future of young sports lovers," he added.
When contacted Joint secretary JKSSC, Shiv kumar Sharma, said there are 52 recognized sports which are associated with federation, "I am going to write a letter to Minister and secretary(JKSSC) regarding the illegal (un- recognized sports)", adding strict action would be taken against the people who befool them. |
