srinagar, Aug 26: Day after Chief Secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khanday announced that he was seeking voluntary retirement, the Government has decided to refer the matter to the cabinet which would take a final call.
The General Administration Department forwarded Khanday's file to the Chief Minister's office, and the issue has become a major embarrassment for Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as Khanday was seen as very close to him.
Khanday's relation with the PDP-BJP coalition Government turned ugly since May after he was treated like a "stenographer," sources said.

JAMMU, Aug 25: Allegedly at the instance of a senior police officer, SHO of a police station in Jammu district was alleged to have extorted Rs 5 lakh from a dealer for selling "disputed" land to five to six families of Kashmir.
A property dealer made plots of land and sold 5-6 of them to the families of Kashmir. When they started work on their plots, someone moved to court of law which stayed all operations on the land after hearing the petitioner. JAMMU, Aug 26: A senior neurosurgeon allegedly assaulted the head of Super Specialty Hospital's Gastroenterology Department on Wednesday, prompting the police to file a case.
Dr Haroon Salaria, a well-known neurosurgeon, 'attacked' Dr Shoket Choudhary when the latter was examining patients, sources told Early Times.
"Later, Dr Shoket met principal of the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu and tried to hush-up the case. But Dr Choudhary filed a complaint and police has registered a case against Dr Haroon and the people who were accompanying him," sources said.

JAMMU, Aug 26: Police headquarters (PHQ) has ordered the transfer of three police personnel from its recruitment board ahead of fresh selections in the department.
One of them, who is of the rank of ASI, is transferred to Jammu while the other two are shifted to Kashmir. The State Home Department had asked the PHQ to make transfers from the board ahead of fresh recruitment vide its July 2015 letter No 312, according to police sources.
The three transferred employees had been in the board since long. The PHQ had ordered the board to relieve them forthwith, the sources added and informed that a Sub-Inspector was now made PA of the board chairman.
