Bhartiya College organized inter college debate competition

UDHAMPUR, Mar 12: As part of the celebrations of International women's day, The NSS unit of Bhartiya College of Education Udhampur today organized an Inter college Debate competition on the topic "Measures taken to Empower Women in India are Adequate".
The event was graced by the presence of Madhu Khajuria, chairperson of the college as the chief guest. The inaugural function started with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the chief guest, management members, Principal of the college and other dignitaries.
Eleven students hailing from various colleges viz Government College for Women Udhampur, Govt. Degree College Udhampur, Kalra College of Education Udhampur, Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur and the Host college participated in the competition.
All the orators spoke about the topic which enthralled the audience. While speaking on the occasion Babli from Bhartiya College of Education was of the opinion that even today with reservation women need to fight for her place in the society, Anandita from Degree College for Women was of the idea that today women have been empowered and rightfully gained her position in the society, Kashish from GDC Boys spoke about the various programmes run by Government like Beti Padao Desh Bachao, Swati from Bhaskar Degree College was of the view that empowerment of women will only happen when our society gives her right place to live.
Madhu Khajuria lauded the efforts of the students and said that these competitions not only encourage the students but also provide them the much needed platform to express their feelings, creativity and ideas. She also appreciated the efforts of the college for organizing such programmes.
The first prize was bagged by Anmiksha from GCW Udhampur, Second Prize was clinched by Mohd. Maznoo from Kalra College of Education Udhampur while Anandita from GDC Udhampur got third position. Certificates were also given to all the participants. Faculty member Meenakshi Gupta compered the proceedings of the programme.
