Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 12: Taking cognizance of Early Times report regarding Facebook postings of certain students dancing during a party of the department of Economics in University of Jammu, and strong resentment shown by student bodies and certain parents, the JU authorities today constituted a committee of senior professors to fix norms for fresher parties in the University.
The committee comprising Prof. Versha Mehta, Prof. Pankaj Srivastava, Prof. Prakash Chand and Prof. Naresh Padha shall investigate into the impropriety during the party in question and submit its report to the Vice Chancellor within 15 days.
ET in its March 11 edition had reported that video clips of students, especially girls dancing on Bollywood numbers were posted on social media by none other than the Head of the Department Prof. Dipankar Sen Gupta, generating lot of antipathy amongst student bodies and parents.
Sources disclosed that student representatives registered their strong protest over the incident and demanded action against the erring HoD. Interestingly, though certain video clips were removed from the facebook page, the still pictures of the girl students along with their names went viral, thereby breaching the privacy of the students.
