Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 12: Vindicating the allegations on Khaki of conniving with land mafia especially in Jammu region, an officer of J&K Police holding the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) extended support to two property dealers for grabbing a piece of land in a posh locality of the city.
However, the concerned SHO's dedication towards his professional duty thwarted the plans of the land grabbers, who were enjoying the patronage from a DIG rank officer.
In a bid to orchestrate illegal possession of the plot measuring 10 Marlas, all pressure tactics were used but the timely intervention of the SHO, the property dealers could not materialize their plan fully backed by none other than a DIG of J&K Police, who remained posted in Jammu province for good number of years.
However, the SHO had to bear enormous pressure from the higher ups in the Police Department for his action to stop the grabbers from usurping the land situated between Gangyal and Bari Brahmana.
After the pressure mounted, the concerned SHO, who had gone to the site to get it vacated returned, however, he advised the woman, who is the original owner of the plot to approach the Court of law so that the ill designs of the grabbers to dispose of her land forcibly could be thwarted.
The two property dealers, in the meantime, pressed into service JCB machines to get the plot in proper shape but after the owner of the land made out the ill-intentions of the duo approached the police for help.
It is pertinent to mention here that both the property dealers, who were trying to grab the plot of the woman, are history sheeters.
One of them hails from Udhampur and served a jail term under Public Safety Act (PSA). He was released from jail only recently.
The Udhampur based property dealer in connivance with a local property dealer, who is allegedly involved in a sex racket case for which an inquiry was pending against him, grabbed the land of the woman flexing muscle power and backing of a top cop.
When the land owner managed to get a direction from the Court in her favour, the SHO then got the land vacated from the possession of the two property dealers.
The SHO after executing the court directions informed his seniors .
Sources told Early Times that the SHO even showed the legal papers of the property, which were in the name of the woman, to his seniors, adding that the two property dealers, were trying to grab the land illegally.
But the concerned SHO displaying exemplary commitment towards maintaining law and order has annoyed the DIG in the process as a much junior officer didn't act according to his whims and fancies.
