Akbar Lone is still Higher Education Minister of J&K ? | Official websites portrays wrong, misleading Info | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 12: It is more than two months since NC lead Government of Omar Abdullah was ousted in Jammu & Kashmir, but the official websites continue to portray the wrong information. The official website of Higher Education Department in J&K (www.jkhighereducation.nic.in) in its officer's directory column still mentions Mohammad Akbar Lone as J&K Higher Education Minister and the School Education Department website has no mention about J&K's new Education Minister Naeem Akhtar inspite of the fact that Akhtar joined as Education Minister (Higher & School education) more than two weeks back. Pertinently Mohammad Akbar Lone was Higher Education Minister of J&K until Governors rule was imposed in January. Pertinently there is a well established Information Technology (IT) Department operational in our state and recently Imran Reza Ansari was inducted into state cabinet to head this department , but most unfortunately his name also has not been updated by the department of IT which is seen as a backbone of IT sector in J&K. The IT department is being headed by full-fledged cabinet Minister but the department website (www.jkit.nic.in) in its organizational structure column mentions that Minister of State (MoS) heads the department , which seems to be some obsolete information. J&K Government get heavy funding for developing the IT sector in the state and when even the official websites are not maintained properly and updated on regular basis where shall an ordinary go to seek redressal of his grievances? This is not the case with only the official website of J&K Government but most of the other government websites too are also not fully updated. The J&K Cooperatives website has updated Govt orders dating back to January 2014 and it seems no other Govt order has been updated after the said order by the department of cooperatives . We have two constitutional public authorities in our state - JK Legislative Assembly & Legislative Council. Both these law making authorities too had not at all created their official websites until last year . Till few months back the official website of Kupwara district (www.kupwara.nic.in) one could see a column dating back to 2004 - 2005 which highlighted expenditure statement of district plan for that financial year , but after the new Deputy Commissioner who is a young IAS officer of 2010 batch took over , the website was fully updated. This indicates that if officers have a will they can work and make things happen. There are as many as two hundred Data Entry Operators appointed under NREGA at block level whose work is to update the NREGA data on national NREGA website but if one clicks the NREGA website of Govt of India the data pertaining to various blocks and villages of J&K state is not updated on regular basis. The reason is that these data entry operators are asked to do clerical job for the BDOs at many block offices in our state. "We feel envious when we see official websites of other states; they are so updated and attractive. Not only the official state websites even the district websites are so much professionally maintained, and for this work they too get the same amount of funds from Government of India as our state gets. The previous Government had become lethargic and corrupt on all fronts. We will ensure that PDP lead Government will correct this mess very soon and make Government officers accountable. I would personally take up this issue with Chief Minister, Education Minister and IT Minister," said Shahnawaz Mir State In-charge PDP's student wing while talking to Early Times. |
